New Down Payment Assistance Program in The City of Antioch
Up to $100,000 for First Time Buyers
Another opportunity has hit the market for first time homebuyers — and this one could be a game changer. If you’ve been dreaming about owning your first home but feel priced out by today’s rising costs, you are not alone. Many buyers are feeling stuck between home prices, interest rate changes, and the challenge of saving for a down payment. But the City of Antioch is stepping up with a powerful solution.

Through the Antioch Home Ownership Program (AHOP), eligible first time buyers can now receive up to $100,000 in down payment assistance — helping you move forward with more financial confidence and less stress.
What is AHOP
The Antioch Home Ownership Program is a city sponsored initiative created to expand access to homeownership for working residents who live or work in Antioch. The program partners with the Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance to guide buyers through the process and provide financial support.
Program Highlights:
$60,000 in assistance from the City of Antioch
Up to $40,000 more from partner organizations
Zero percent interest with no monthly payments
Repayment only occurs when you sell, refinance, or pay off the mortgage
This is not a typical loan. It is a flexible tool to help reduce the upfront burden that stops many first time buyers from moving forward.
Who Is Eligible
You may qualify if you:
Have not owned a home in the past 3 years
Plan to buy within Antioch city limits
Meet income guidelines (typically up to 120 percent of the area median income)
Complete a HUD approved homebuyer education course
Live or work in Antioch (priority often given)
What Can the Funds Be Used For
Down payment
Closing costs
Interest rate buydowns
Other lender approved fees
This can help you secure better terms, reduce your out of pocket expenses, and improve your overall buying power.
Are Applications Open
Yes. As of May 2025, applications are being accepted but funding is limited and demand is high. Only a handful of buyers will be approved this cycle, so acting early is important.
